The Research Assistant is responsible for the recruitment and engagement of research participants to support SourceMedia’s business-to-business research practice. Using best practices in email communications, this person will promote a positive experience among our research participants as well as ensure a high-quality data collection process. Working out of the New York office, the research assistant will be an integral research team member who interacts closely with our research and circulation staff to conduct email/online campaigns among SourceMedia audiences for the purposes of recruiting them for market research projects. Responsibilities include writing, testing and managing email campaigns for individual surveys. The research assistant is expected to build knowledge about the various respondent audiences/profiles across all SourceMedia brands.


This person will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Select/pull appropriate sample for all quantitative research projects.
  • Upload lists, write invitations, and launch email survey campaigns using the Qualtrics platform email invitation system.
  • Regularly monitor surveys in the field to track incidence/response rates and ensure field completion deadlines while communicating updates to research team members. Provide advice during planning stages about optimal field times based on knowledge of the audience, research study topics, fielding calendar, etc.
  • Follow the field schedule to ensure survey projects are launched on time to meet the required research objectives while adhering to SourceMedia’s corporate guidelines and best practices for list management and audience development.
  • Ensure compliance to CAN-SPAM laws and best practices in online marketing and research data collection while keeping current on relevant industry trends from industry organizations and publications.
  • Support survey incentive award administration and monitor the research email inbox to respond to occasional panelist/participant email inquiries.



  • Detail-oriented with outstanding communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Handling multiple projects in a fast-paced deadline-driven media environment and sensitive to project deadlines.
  • Familiar with market research practices and processes is desirable.

 Desired Skills & Experience:  

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in marketing or marketing research environment.
  • Experience using an email invitation system is a plus.
