In August 2014, SourceMedia was acquired by Observer Capital. Observer Capital is an investment firm focused on private equity and special situation opportunities across the media, finance and business services industries. By bringing partnership and experience to each investment, Observer Capital seeks to enhance value through strategic growth initiatives, operating and technology improvements, and add-on acquisitions.

 

SourceMedia is focused on continuing with the execution of its strategy by enhancing its portfolio of services – on behalf of its marketing clients, subscribers, and event attendees – and accelerating its development through organic growth and acquisitions.

Responsibilities

The Director will have full responsibility for the strategy, implementation of, and operations of SourceMedia’s subscriber acquisition and renewal strategies through marketing initiatives. The Director is responsible for driving subscriptions through integrated marketing channels reporting directly to the Chief Subscription Officer with a matrix to the VP of Audience and Data Sciences. 

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

 

Develop and evolve overall subscription marketing program, data and platform marketing strategy supporting new and existing products to build SourceMedia’s paid content business.

 

  • Develop best in class digital b-to-b integrated marketing program 
  • Devise and implement campaign testing, targeting, and segmentation to maximize subscription order conversion across all channels 
  • Work with behavioral customer data to optimize pricing and sales strategy 
  • Identifying lists and databases for potential subscribers 
  • Engage with leadership to establish strategy, goals and execution for each product 
  • Strategically analyze and interpret usage data, response rates, renewal rates, ROI 
  • Develop new business marketing strategies 
  • Develop and execute renewal strategies across products 
  • Maximize use of internal and external systems including Marketo, SalesForce

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years in media, minimum five years’ experience in a managerial role in digital subscription marketing 
  • Proven track record of success in meeting and exceeding subscription growth and revenue goals 
  • Experience overseeing the buildout of a successful digital acquisition program including paid social, ad words conversion, digital trial conversions 
  • Experience working with and managing external agencies and vendors 
  • Experience working closely with sales team and fulfillment processes 
  • Experience working with Marketo, SalesForce and other systems and tools to drive subscription revenue 
  • ROI focused and analytically minded 
  • Passion for paid content 
  • Experience with new business launches 
  • Strong people management and leadership skills 
  • A demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner
  • Solid digital experience beyond email
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • B2B experience preferred
  • Engaging style that will establish an instant rapport with clients and sales people
  • BA/BS degree
