The Email Marketing Manager will drive the growth of all email and newsletter products for the SourceMedia properties. The email channel is a very significant component of SourceMedia’s content, audience and revenue strategies. The Email Product Marketing Manager will lead all newsletter initiatives with a focus on optimizing content, design and monetization. A primary responsibility for this role will be to oversee all technical aspects of new and existing email programs. Taking a lead role in devising and executing email marketing campaigns is also a priority. This role will drive the development of all email products for the company and this person will be the resident expert on the email tools being utilized.


This position interfaces directly with the editorial, product, technology, advertising and marketing teams to understand their specific email marketing or publishing needs in order to deliver on strategic objectives. This position plays a key role in ensuring email sources are maximized in order to meet the audience needs of all internal business groups. This position will report on results on a regular basis in addition to executing a-la-carte analyses to ensure all stakeholders have a full understanding of performance. This person will also initiate and execute a steady stream of tests in the email channel. The primary goals for the role are to grow the quality, engagement and size of the company’s email lists.


The Email Marketing Manager will also provide support for other audience development priorities beyond those that have a significant email component. For example, there will be regular contributions to social media marketing and partnership development initiatives.

You must be able to confidently manage key initiatives that require the coordination of stakeholders across departments.


Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop the newsletter strategy across all publications
  • Manage email lists and ensure proper email deployments
  • Troubleshoot all email-related issues that arise
  • Manage email-related expenses
  • Meet regularly with key stakeholders on the Editorial and Marketing teams to both understand needs and identify opportunities.
  • Initiate ideas to optimize performance and manage their implementation
  • Report on newsletter KPIs and all key email metrics including test results
  • Propose, execute and assess tests on an ongoing basis
  • Support all revenue channels from a newsletter and email perspective



  • 4-6 years digital marketing experience
  • 2 or more years hands-on experience managing email campaigns and delivery
  • Clear demonstration of strong direct marketing instincts.
  • Expert knowledge of email deployment systems
  • Understanding, preferably based on experience, of the distinctive requirements of newsletters delivering independent premium content, including paid subscribers
  • Knowledge of web analytics tools such as Google Analytics
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic work atmosphere. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Creative self-starter who instinctively takes ownership of projects
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office along with some HTML experience
  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, marketing, or other related field
