The Bond Buyer is seeking an Innovation Editor, a new role that will report directly to the Editor in Chief.

    Responsibilities

    The Editor will

Create and cover the “innovation” beat, focusing on new players, new ideas, and new solutions to problems facing municipalities, underwriters, and all segments of the muni industry. Examples of topics relevant to this beat are big-picture infrastructure issues, new financing mechanisms, and new investors in the muni space. The person in this role would come equipped with a deep roster of relevant contacts and be constantly on the lookout for such changes taking place in this market.

Curate and edit the Bond Buyer Commentary section. This person would actively seek out muni market participants for op-ed contributions, particularly on topics that align with these beat responsibilities.

Extend and grow the innovation “brand within a brand” with podcasts and, where applicable, conference panels.

Reporting directly to the Editor in Chief, this individual would be expected to liaise with reporters and editors from all three main areas of coverage (Regions, Washington, Markets), and edit stories coming out of any and all of those sections when necessary.

    Qualifications

Extensive knowledge and understanding of the municipal bond market is a core requirement for this position. The candidate should have extensive experience in covering &/or analysis of public finance and fixed income. The ability to write clearly and accurately under tight deadlines is required. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of finance, economics, video, digital journalism and social media.
